Well you could install a card reader on your dash and just swipe a magnetic coded card to start your car. Almost anybody servicing automatic security gates could furnish the necessary parts. A better solution would be to install the card reader, a satellite uplink and charge the crooks rental for the car on the credit card they use to start the car. You might find a high roller car thief and just charge him twice retail on his card for the car. Probably it would end up being cheaper and easier to wire up a simple prox-card reader to the underside of the driver's seat and keep the prox card in your wallet. Only problem is that it would probably kill the engine if you put it in park at a red light and jumped to the back seat to grab your CD folder or something. Perhaps one of those small keytag sized HID prox "cards" on the ring with the Vanagon key, and a small mullion reader in the dash that powers up when you turn the key to ON and triggers a latching relay feeding the fuel pump relay. Starting to sound like those transponder keys that give locksmiths like me fits... > Slight modification of that kind of unit to put the locking solenoids in > different positions shouldnt be to hard either.
