Subject:Re: Removing rear heater in Westy?

You should plug the hoses, not couple them together. When you couple them you provide another way for coolant to bypass the radiator without being able to control it like the valve on the rear heater did.

I went ahead and replaced the heater hoses from the engine to the front heater core and eliminated the "t" connectors at the same time when I removed my heater. I used the wiring and the switch hole on the dash for my cruise control installation.

Good luck,

Tim

Is there any mechanical reason not to remove the rear heater (under the seat/bed) in a Westy? I almost never use it, and would like more storage space under the seat. It looks to be as simple as connecting the in and out hoses together with a coupler, bypassing the heater core. Anyone done this? Any tips or thoughts would be most welcome.
