Chrysler was buying and reselling Mitsubishi engines and even whole cars for 20+ years before the "merger". The Dodge Colt, etc, as well as many of the engines in the famous Caravan and Voyager lines, early on at least. They even used VW engines briefly when they were hurting and unable to make enough of their own small 4 cyl engines. Omni and Horizon, early years. Since the 80s GM sold Isuzus under their nameplate and Ford sold Mazdas. The LUV pickup for example and the small Ranger pickup.
