Think outside the waterbox for a moment! My method- I bought an 86 syncro that I will soon swap out to a diesel TDI that I will run bio-diesel through. ( only 90 k on a rebuilt waterboxer so ican't bring myself to transplant from her while she is still healthy!) 86 syncro 81 caddy truck yellow- on bio-d 81 caddy truck-white - on bio d Don't limit yourself to a wimpy 1.6 diesel engine- think bigger, faster, cleaner, better mileage! You can make bio-d really easily and then you don't have to worried about a dual fuel system and all those hassles. try here for info; TDI-conversion@yahoogroups.com- vanagon conversion group cheers, chris 86 syncro 81 caddy truck yellow- on bio-d 81 caddy truck-white - on bio d Dusty Edwards wrote: >i'm really thinking about doing something about my craze for alternative fuels - specifically, a bio-diesel powered westy sounds like the best option. > >my question is: since you don't see many of them, how long were they made??? were these produced until '91 like the gasoline powered vans? thanks for the help - i tried to do some quick searching online but thought that i'd simply ask the pros. > >thanks! >dusty. > >PS - what will westy owners do when/if our oil supply runs dry? will somebody figure out a way to run an alternative fuel through our gasoline engines???...........i ask myself this all of the time. > > >
