I have been hearing a clunk clunk noise every time I go over a bump...

Upon further pushing and shoving, it seems that there is play on the
driver's side axle shaft that allows it to move inward to the point of
making a CLUNK noise...the other side doesn't do this...

The strange thing is that it doesn't make any noise while just
turning...what's missing here? Do I need to rebuild the CV on the
inside?
