Subject:Re: Best placement for outside air temperature sender?

You can make things go below the outside ambient air temperature through
evaporation. It isn't the wind that is colder, it is the effect the water
evaporating off the object - wind will accelerate this effect and will super
cool it. This can be seen on chilly mornings were there is dew on the
windscreen and it is about +1 or +2C and then you start driving, that water
will freeze on the windscreen. Aircraft also have this issue as well.

Howdy All,

Am I wrong on this or what?

" I want to avoid places like the grille as there is the possibility of a
super cooling effect if ... wind is blowing on it."

I wouldn't think that wind would make a difference on a temperature sensor
(even if it is wet). Fifty degree air is fifty degree air, right? And 100
degree air is 100 degree air, right?

Cheers,
Bruce
