If there is an upside to the gas prices....[ but not the tragedy ] Maybe we will get access to more efficient cars... As recently as March daimlerChrysler was still on the fence about bringing The Smart car to this county.... They dont think anyone will buy them! Meanwhile the Canadian SmartCar is running around on a 75[?] mpg diesel! And then it seems that it never struck VW that the Lupo Might one day be needed in this market... Also - [NVC] if anyone is following the Disaster here is an excellent set of articles explaining the vulnerabilites of the area [ written 3 years ago....:O( ] It may possibly give a heads up to what to expect in the coming weeks... :O( http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf?/washingaway/part1.html Tom From: David Bohannan <fjazzbass@GMAIL.COM> Reply-To: David Bohannan <fjazzbass@GMAIL.COM> Date: Thu, 1 Sep 2005 15:40:05 -0400 To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Subject: Re: Maybe now is the time to fill the tank of your extra car or "parts vanagon" Yeah I filled mine up the night before last and am not driving anywhere unnecessarily...I am fortunate to work from home...not sure how anyone that commutes could do this...trying to stay home...share rides...pick up stuff from the store for Mom when we go....almost like the way it should be normally...I like this exercise... Too bad it took a tragedy like this to force it upon us instead of making the conscious decision to save resources because its good stewardship... Dave
