Standard quart, or gallon? Is this change in the last month or so? I always buy oil by the case. I have been using Castrol dino 20/50 or Valvoline dino 10/30 since I got my van, and the bottles have always fit into the extension. It may be messy to get in there if you aren't careful and quick, but it has always fit, no need for a funnel. > > > >Evan Mac Donald > >1984 Wolfburg >1985 GL 7 Pass. >1991 Carat Weekender > > > > For some time now in the Birmingham area the only quart bottles of oil that are available are wide mouth bottles. Up until about about a year agao - maybe a little bit more - all bottles had necks that would fit right down into the filler neck. No muss, no fuss. Then came the change. Now the bottles have a mouth on them that is as wide as the filler extention tube itself. Given that flat angle of the filler tube, there is no way to pour oil directly from these new bottles directly into the filler tube without making a mess. You have to stick something down in there with an angle on it. None of the funnels I have found in this area worked satisfactorily for me. Tried the paper funnels, tried the plastic funnels with flex tubes on them. Worked poorly. I never tried cutting the side out of one of the old narrow neck bottles to use as a funnel, but that should work well. I finally got around to the 6 inch piece of PVC and the PVC elbow to go with it. Works excellently for me. John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
