The rules for Canada and the USA are very different. In Canada you CAN NOT import a non-Canadian or US spec vehicle that is less than 15 years old. In the US, you can import a non-US spec vehicle under a few methods: 1 - There is a substantially similar model already being sold in the US by the same manufacturer. 2 - The vehicle is 25+ years old To import using method #1, you must go through a Registered Importer and the vehicle must have been ruled eligible by the NHTSA. Here's a good read: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ELIG081905.html Cheers, Jeff -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM]On Behalf Of Martine Boudreault Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 6:52 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Take a look at the new T-5 Camper. Couldn't speak for Canada, but not to the U.S. They do not comply with U.S. D.O.T. regulations and bringing one to compliance is not affordable. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc. www.busdepot.com (215) 234-VWVW _____________________________________________ Toll-Free for Orders by PART # : 1-866-BUS-DEPOT
