Chris, Sounds like an antenna problem, although if you get good/normal FM reception then we're missing something. FM reception uses the same antenna. The fact that you have had the same poor AM results with 3 radios still points at the antenna, and not a radio fault. At least check the connection in back and at the base of the antenna before buying another. Or borrow an antenna and plug it in temporarily without mounting it. Your clock radio should have an internal antenna; it's likely a ferrite rod type mounted just inside the case. If you rotate the radio, you'll probably find it's pretty directional; that's characteristic. But, as far as I know, auto radios have never used internal antennas. //Jack On 23 Sep 2005 at 12:47, Chris Renz wrote: > I had an old baywindow before and the stock antenna on that seemed to pick > up AM stations great. > > Im on my third tape deck and I still can't seem to get anything on the AM > dial. > > Does anyone else have better luck, should I replace my antenna, or is it > mostly the radio that would be at fault? > > I just switched to a brand new Sony tape deck and while I can pick up one or > two now, I dont understand why this massive extended antenna on my van > OUTSIDE can't fair as well as the clock radio in my bedroom with basically > no antenna whatsoever. > > thoughts, suggestions, tomfoolery welcomed. > > best, > chris > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. > Version: 7.0.344 / Virus Database: 267.11.4/109 - Release Date: 9/21/2005 >
