Subject:Re: stock antenna - no AM stations?

I do receive FM stations, although very patchy at best. I can sit and scan
and find a station one minute, then it will be gone for the next 10 attempts
to scan and locate that channel again.

AM just doesn't find anything, nada. It will scan forever and never stop at
a station. The only stations I can even try, since I cant manually tune a
specific station, are the presets, which don't tune anything.

No noise, no static, no nothing on AM.

Im thinking it must be the antenna itself or the cable. I don't know how it
could be the cable, but I guess ill try replacing the antenna first, then
the cable if still no improvement is seen.

by the way, I did turn the 'local' option off so it scans for all signals
and not just high powered ones.
when on FM you can switch to MONO and it will supposedly pick up more
stations that way, but I didn't really see much of an improvement.

The radio didn't have any special AM tuning options built into it, or if it
does there is 100% no mention of it in the manual, so im not going to
uninstall it to check that.

thanks for the tips, im off to locate a good strong replacement antenna.

any tips on that are now also appreciatted. =)
