It could be something to do with the Printed Circuit Board which is under the dash behind the steering wheel. The temp and oil gauges on my '87 Vanagon don't work for this reason. Until I get it fixed, I regularly check my coolant and oil levels. peace, - rockin' robyn & Vanis (Woplin)
