I must sell my 90 Carat. It has only 95K original miles. It is Auto, air and
full power: electric locks and windows. We bought this Vanagon back in 1998
and it has been a daily driver throughout.
Good:
Straight body, 1 minor ding on front end covered by bra. $600, Pioneer
CD/MP3 and tuner installed. $1,200 in brakes 2 years ago. Runs fine, daily
drive until last July (2005) when I got a new company car and we stopped
driving it.

Needs:
Tires: I have waited for I was going to 15" wheels, it has orig alum 14"
wheels. I discovered that Carat's are 2" lower than std. Vanagons and
scrubbing can be an issue for larger diameter tires: next owners call.
Alignment, Elect locks not working,  A/C Recharge: converted to R134a,
Paint: original and child scratches on RH side from bicycles,
Elect mirrors are not responding to the controller.

Cosmetics:
Interior needs to be professionally cleaned: a body shop quoted me $250 to
pull all the upholstery out, including the seat covers and steam clean them.
He did not recommend re-upholstery.
Right rear plastic kick panel near lift gate is cracked and held together by
Plasti-Dip.
Headrests on rear seats have begun to split on the plastic.

General:
Royal Purple synthetic lubricants throughout: engine, auto tranny,
differential. K&N Filtercharger installed. Maintained by The Kaferhaus an
all German house in Seabrook Texas. I have all receipts.
This Vanagon is a prime candidate for a restore; it has only 95,000 miles
verifiable by Carfax. I am starting a new business and will have to let this
Carat go.
Asking $2,000 OBO. It will be listed on Ebay.
