Stan's comments about new cars is right on. It is why my favorite car is my 1973 Spitfire - tons of parts (and cheap), easy to work on (carbs and no computer), fun to drive, and always the compliment or offer to buy! Wooden dashboard and lots of primitive steel parts and fasteners. My least favorite is my wife's '96 minivan - having just laid out $1500 for a remanufactured transmission for a vehicle we just bought with 84,000 original miles on it. Best Regards Howard Allen S. Portland, Maine As I look around at the current run of production cars and consider what might become a classic twenty years from now I must eliminate every one of the current cars produced. I see old VWs, Porsche, Pre-90s Pickup Trucks and a few Vans that have good strong steel bodies and steel bumpers. Can you imagine the price of that giant plastic rear bumper on any car manufactured in the last ten years.
