I think that if you place a multi meter is series between the neg cable and
the neg  battery post(just disconnect the cable), you will get a voltage
reading if you got a short.To find where the short is, remove one fuse at a
time till the voltage reading goes out. The short is in that circut. Make
sure all accessories , even the clock(or antacipate this),is turned off
before starting this test. Roger
