Hi folks, Well, I was hoping I'd be posting to the list that I was FINALLY back on the road after a long break for some gainful employment in Malawi. But actually I'm not back on the road yet. I just talked to my friend in Boulder who's been babysitting Matilda while I was away, and it turns out she got broken into in my absence. Someone carefully cut out one of the triangular side windows, on the passenger side, and got into the van. (I'm still trying to figure out what, if anything, was stolen - the police seem to think the guy was surprised and ran away. Apparently there have been a lot of similar crimes in Boulder lately.) I'm looking for advice on replacing that window. I haven't seen the van yet - I'm still on the east coast, going back to Colorado December 6. But has anyone else had this happen, and what's the best strategy on replacement? Do I need to go to a VW place, or just any auto glass place, or what? Anyone know of a good place in Boulder to do that kind of work? Hopefully I'll be back on the road by mid-December. I'm thinking of heading straight to California, and working my way down the coast in time to make it to Buses by the Beach in January. Suggestions? Nice places to stop? I've never traveled down the California coast before! Please could you reply to me directly as well as to the list? I just changed my settings back to get Vanagon and wetwesty mail, but it doesn't seem to have worked, 'cause I haven't gotten any mail since then, and no Vanagon mail or wetwesty mail in 12 hours seems unlikely! I hope to hear back, and to see some of you at BBTB!
