The contribution to ice fog in Alaska in winter - especially around
Anchorage and Fairbanks - fully justifies the emissions controls. That
fog, as you know full well, can be hazardous to your health, certainly
from a breathing standpoint, but also from an "obstructed visibility"
standpoint. When the conditions are right, you can't see squat!!!! Could
ge run into or run over.

What is the current story in Alaska about the use of MTBE(sp) in the
fuels around Anchorage. I would be curious to know. When I was there and
it was used, every time I went to Anchorage in winter I got sick. I mean
every time. And it was weird. Something I couldn't pinpoint. I just felt
sick. Nothing specific, just felt sick, felt bad, a bit nauseated,
headache for several days, loss of energy. Finally it would clear, then
the next time I would go, same thing all over again. I tried to avoid
going to ANC in winter because of it.
