I've got the part numbers and instructions for removal out on my site (find
link below, go to Electric section).  I usually write up the jobs that I
have had trouble with and I had a LOT of trouble finding the right
replacement bulbs.  Like you, I was doing some serious gnashing of teeth
wondering why vw didn't put an easily replaceable bulb in there!!
