I know there has been discussion and I tried to search for the info but
couldn't whittle it down.

I have an opportunity to pick up 5 Mercedes rims for $100 and am looking to
put them on my 2WD Vanagon.  I currently have stock steel wheels and cheapo
hubcaps.

The question is - what size spacer is required and or what else must be done
to make them fit?
