what i meant to say was...
  by amps giving ones system any depth, i didnt mean external amps.  i meant amperage behind/pushing/driving the watts.  case in point.  my girlfriend has and mtx amp.  it is said to put out around 310 watts.  but my directed 250D can blow it away and it wont put out anything over 300 watts(this is all by manufacture specs)  my directed amp has more amperage pushing its 250 watts that the mtx.  so that is what i was speaking of when i said its the amps the give a stereo system depth.

  i hope i have not confused some one more than they already were.
