Subject:Vacuum Form Projects -

Ok Volks,

I have the following projects under way

*Projectzwo Lower grille fog Lights*
Kim Brennan was kind enough to lend his set to me to check out and it turns out that replicas are an iminently do-able project with the vacuum former. Some of these will be made.

*Wheel Arches*
Matthew Pollard was kind enough to send me an example to see if it could be replicated. It is a doable project but not with the vacuum former. The wheel arches require some structural strength, are solid and cannot be made on the vacuum former, BUT, they can be molded and cast using a good UV resistant casting compound. I have not received the complete set for all four wheels yet, but my example clearly shows it possible to do this. Will keep the list posted on this as it progresses.

*SA Grille
*I have never seen one of these except in pictures, but if they are constructed anything like the stock American units, then there is no reason they can't be replicated with the vacuum former machine. If some one has a loaner, I can take a look and make a definitive conclusion on it's feasibility. Or if the List wants to chip in and collectively buy one before they disappear for examination purposes, that would be a big help. Why don't I just buy it myself and have done with it?? I just spent 2 grand on my 88 GL and busted the budget. Otherwise, I would love to buy one. But they may be gone by the time I'm aready again. And today, I got hit with having to buy an alternator. No fun.

If we made a collective buy, it could be auctioned off after I am done making molds from it.

But apparently this is something that needs doing shortly or we will lose the SA grill.

Let me know what your think.
