I mounted mine above my head under the luggage box. Ran the wire back and
under the canvas, then down the door moulding to the floor, under the carpet
and up to the dash near the plastic heater facia. My receiver is mounted on
my dash near the ash tray.
If you don't have a Westy, try the reception putting it on the metal, just
inside the bottom front of the windshield. There may be enough pitch to the
windshield so you get good reception. I do that in my Passat and get great
reception.
