Do you know anything about the history of this vanagon? I mean, did it run
before it was parked.Was it parked because it didnt run? It seems the
altenator should be bueno if it ran and was then parked. The battery is
history. I suggest that if it ran before it was parked, the battery
connections at the battery are corroded or damaged so that current cannot
get into the battery from the altenator.Before removing the altenator,
clean the battery terminals and jump it with another car to see if it will
continue to run.If it does run,just replace the battery and enjoy.
