You have to get that clip inside it open and then a lead hammer or other
heavy soft type mallet will usually knock it off.

Is there any way to remove the axle shaft from the hub on the front
of a Syncro without that universal puller tool on page 40.18 in the
Bentley? I've got the inner CV off and the A-arm off the ball joint
and whacking it is probably not the answer...
