(half of it >on ice...) 1 mile = 1.6 km 1 km = 0.62 miles I drive 10 to 12,000 kms per year. 80% city driving. I live in the inner city, no commuting involved. The trip computer in my car says my average speed is 35 km/h for city driving. So if I drive 10,000 km per year at 35 km/h that's 285 hours sitting in the car, or 45 minutes per day. I'm told the average vehicle in North America gets driven about 20,000 miles (32,000 kms) per year. Assuming city driving only, that works out to 2 1/2 hours per day. Assuming combined city/highway it's probably still 2 hours a day. We are spending a lot of time in these things........
