I have a similar problem, also a 1.9 '84, but seem to be letting Wes do
all the heavy lifting so I can copy his fix.

My bet is that it is not the switch.  FWIW, I already have the usual
Bosch relay arrangement to address the 'hot start' problem.  Have you
replaced that bearing that the armature pops into?  That's my intent
while the engine is out anyway.
