Sounds rich to me how old is your oxy? Burning excess oil can usually be smelled quite obviously when you are in the back. If it's excess oil getting through your tail pipe can often have an oily feel but if it's dry and sooty at the pipe I think you are running rich... My saab turbo has an oil leak in the turbo and the stench at the tail pipe is unbelievable. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Geza Polony Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2006 12:22 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Is it normal... Just took off my cat to have a look. Not clogged, can see through it, and the screen is intact, but it's pretty black--as was the tip of the old O2 sensor I took out. Could this be due to excess oil burning through the combustion chambers (from whatever source)? Or is it just from running rich? Or?
