Starter relay going bad?

Subject: Trouble coming my way?  Starter delay

Hello All!

Over the past few days I have noticed a troubling trend.

Hop in the Vanagon, turn the key -- slight delay -- start.

This morning, I ran into a situation where I turned the key and nothing,
tried again, start.

So, what do you think?  Starter trouble headed my way?  Should I replace it
now?

I drive an automatic, so push-start won't do the trick in a bind.....
