Subject:Friday- LCD screen conclusion.

I want to thank everyone who emailed me with advice and info in my search
for a nice 19" LCD computer screen. Ron Salmon gave me the best deal, but I
missed the deadline on getting one of the rebates because I hesitated. I
wound up looking on Tigerdirect.com and found a great deal on a Hanns-G
monitor. It ran me about $219 with shipping (after mail-in rebate). I am
very happy with the monitor. The picture is bright and clear and with a 8ms
response time there is virtually no "ghosting" of moving images. I think
the best thing I did was go to several tech stores and actually look at the
monitors on display. I found (strangely) that actually the cheaper monitors
seemed to have a better picture than the more expensive ones. I am not sure
why, but the Samsung, and Westinghouse monitor picture beat the socks off
Sony, HP, etc. So when I checked out the Hanns-G and read all of the
positive reviews of the monitor I could believe it. Also the monitor has
dual input. You can use your old VGA connection if you want. Or you can
upgrade your video card to digital and use that connector (better picture
too). Now I have a 21" old school monitor to sell. Anyone looking for one?
I would take $150 obo for it.
Tigerdirect was great to order from. I ordered the monitor on a Wednesday
afternoon and the monitor arrived here in NJ by Friday. I just wanted to
share my experiences with the list in case anyone else was considering going
to the flat monitors. Now I have to try to figure out what to do with all
that extra desk space :-)

Thanks,
Ken Wilford
