mine are way messy, and I don't care soo much about the looks as I do
the functionality.

I tried some masonite, but its way too thick.

What would be an ideal material to use?
(perhaps the same, just a much thinner piece?)

I want to mount my speakers up in the door by the window crank and the
stupid 1/8th thick stuff I just used sticks out too far to get the door
opening thingy back in place, as well as sticks the speaker out too
close to the side of the dash.
