Subject:Heavy engine flooding

Yo...

Well no pictures this time.

So, lately a have seen a rare problem, an engine filled with fuel in an
"hydro-lock" state (that is the problem, not so rare, but wait!), so, i
procede slowly expecting a fuel injector failure (it did happen to me twice
lately) but injectors leaks but don't fail...that much... so Ok!

So i start by a FI pressure test and i got nothing, ok, pinch some hoses one
per one, nothing? so i pinch the main line from the pump, after the T
junction where you plug the FI pressure gage, pinch each side... paff,
pressure climb fast to 100psi, so ok, the pump old pressure and is working...

of, i remove the right fuel rail with the injectors on it... fuel is pooring
through the fuel injectors hole in the intake... #1 is worse???? ok, i check
the injectors...fine??? so, the short version, i unplug all injectors from
the engine (that mean no more fuel inside...) run the pump manualy
(Digifan), each time the pump runs... fuel is pooring out of those hole???
EVERYTHING as been disconnected (i thought!) I'm amazed (and tired), so few
other mechanics comme and look at the problem, all are amazed and
wondering??? but one look at the FI rail, connection system from another
point of view and... he pull the vacuum line from the Fuel pressure
regulator on top that goes to the air-plenium... and vlaannnnnn.... fuel is
pooring from the vaucum side of the regulator, the only line that was still
connected to the intake/engine....

Conclusion, fuel regulator failure, basicaly it cracked inside, broken,
kapout!!! so, if you ever see a big engine flooding (fuel), pull that small
vacuum line

The thing is that i had no sign of a leak, nothing around the nipple, hose
was hold and barely holding to the vacuum...

Cheers, Ben
