What's the advantage gained by adding a fuel cooler? Is this something peculiar to VW's distributer-type injection pumps, which are lubricated entirely by the fuel, or is it something else? My MB has a thermostatically controlled fuel heater (on the feed side of the pump), but I'm just curious to learn more about why a fuel cooler is required for this application.
