I found the solution. I since I have 2.1 AMC
heads on the 1.9 block, I have to use the 2.1
plenum and intake runners. I can still attach the
1.9 throttle body to the plenum.
The 2.1 will fit the 1.9 block with some rounding
our of the bolt holes.
I had plenum of questions earlier, thanks for the
replies.

Intake and plenum from 1.9 to 2.1 are
different. I don't know why
one would not fit the other. 2.1L runners are
larger in dia.
2.1L plenum has a tab for the idle stablizer.

I am obviously a stranger to the WBX or I
would'nt be asking these questions. I have a 1.9
I am reassembling. OH-OH, the intake runners
won't line up with the plenum? What is going on
here? Do I have to use 2.1 runners with the 2.1
plenum? I have all those parts, under a board
with 2 transmissions stored in a Vanagon. I hate
to pull all of it out just for the plenum but
will if I must. Please tell me I answered my own
question. Robert 1985 Vanagon GL
