I have a rebuilt starter, the 'hot start' relay fix, a dedicated ground cable to the starter body and a cable from the alternator directly to the starter and still it sometimes balks. All I have to do it turn the headlights on & off and then everything is fine. Happens just seldom enough to be called a 'quirk' rather than a 'problem'. Maybe this is as good as it gets.
