Interstates are what they are named. They are good to (relatively) rapidly get you from state to state. If you are interested in seeing the area in which you travel, the older US routes often have more scenic and/or historical value. I've not yet put together a compendium of US routes I've been on, though I know I have been on US 1, US 2, US 66 and US 101. Curiously, While the interstates increase in ennumeration from west to east and south to north, The US routes are the reverse of that (in general). Need it be said that I've traveled these roads primarly in Vanagons? ISBN O-8957-318-X is the reference for los caminos grandes del estados unidos. _Readers Digest On The Road USA_ is a two volume set of North-South/East-West Interstates. Makes it easy to follow Kim's travels. Published in the early 90s.
