If the commute is to far get a five speed, gulf or jetta or anything small, The vanagon is a boat, unless we are transporting people, or vacationing, we are wasting gas, my Fox wagon was a great alternative to the vanagon, I would haul supplies fill it with fire wood and get great gas millage. I am bitter because I do not have the time to fix my Jetta and I am doing all of my running around in the Van when I can't pedal there or Carry it on my bike. the vanagon looses it's gas millage mostly on the highway due to arow dynamics. What if they desighned a bus soert of a cross between the pick up and the van. The cab would simply sit lower and the back could raise up like a westy needed it Brian
