so i pulled my fridge today to try to troubleshoot why it doesnt work. at all. at least under both flavors of electrical power. well, i found some connections on the 12 volt side were browned...not melted or burnt, but close. the 12 volt fan motor was shot. the fan itself was fine, but when i pulled apart the motor, the armature was burnt, the brushes were melted to the armature, and there was loose melted solder rolling around inside. joy. heres my two questions: first, is there any way to test the electrical heating element with a multimeter? i mean, im sure there is, but i dont know what numbers im looking for on a good element, and which are the correct test points for the right tests. second, could the entire problem be as simple as that fan? is there a fail-safe that shuts off the fridge if the 12v fan isnt working? it looks to me like a fan blade got caught in some stray insulation and burnt up (is there supposed to be a layer of yellow, and a layer of pink? or was some possibly added by a previous owner?) thanx nick (hoping i have cold drinks for my up comming move cross country) Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings, they did it by killing all those who opposed them. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
