Blast it with the almost unbelievably terrific "Fluid Film"! The lanolin-based lubricant is slippery, viscous and rubber-friendly all at the same time. Open up the shifter housing from your spare tire well and give it heck. I've forgotten who initially recommended the stuff, but I've developed a Jehovah's Witness-like zeal for the product. I'm ready to go around the neighbourhood knocking on doors to convert people from that WWJD-40 stuff to the real deal: Sheep Oil!
