I called the California Air Resources Board [CARB] and asked about the
legality of switching to diesel power.

The person who answered said the only legal way to do so was to use a kit
that had been approved by CARB. These kits are listed on their web site and
she knew of none that were approved.

She sounded very sure but I worked for the state and often was very
sure...and wrong.

Anybody got a definitive answer? As in you've done it rather than opinions.
