As the UK Gallon is officially extinct, as a UK resident, I can tell you that it is not. While fuel is purchased in liters, and we do have the EU forcing metric measurements down our throats, we still use MPH and all documentation for buying cars shows both metric fuel consumptio and imperical gallons per mile. Most people only talk in gallons and almost never in kilos per litre.

  All the best.

8 to 11 l/100km is 29.4 to 21.4 "state side" mpg

My experience is 8 to 9L per 100km up to 100km/h and 10L per 100km up to
120km/h

Here is a good link for figuring this stuff out:

to put this in more anglo-centric measures (based on 1 gallon = 4.55
litres and 1 mile = 1.61 kilometres):

1.9L TDI:--25.7 to 35.3 mpg (avg 29.7 mpg)
V6 TDI: ---21.7 to 28.2 mpg (avg 24.6 mpg)
