Hi Sam. Thanks for reply and links. Have seen those pages before. Closer scrutiny shows that marks made on CV (benplace.com) are on end with chamfered face on ball hub. But..... am still uncertain which end of CV goes onto drive shaft first. Old CV's: both ends of ball hub chamfered. New CV's ball hubs have only one end chamfered, which is good, but only 3 of 4 new/rebuilt Lobro's, have alignment/paint dots on chamfered ball hub ends. The 4th is marked on opposite end. All this has recently added to my confusion. My concern right now is getting new ones on, and van on road. So.... My guts tell me that on each CV, the chamfered end of ball hub faces "inward" toward small end of boot when installed. Presumably to facilitate introduction of hub splines to shaft splines. Is this correct? (I know they should function either way, but just want to make this install as "correct" as possible) And sorry to all for taking up time/bandwidth with all this text......
