    actually I think there is....!  When I first started reading your post,
I was thinking, yep, that gal lives where I do, always making do with
something broken.  Images of all the fixes back through the years, the very
same thing... !  Then it hit me, GOOP....AutoZone sells an automotive GOOP
in a red tube.. Take something make a form around the wires and transformer
case and squeeze in that clear automotive goop.   When it sets peel the form
away...!  This stuff, I repaired a weed eater head with it.
