Florian, Gee, I've been running the higher wattage bulbs in my '85 Westy for about two years now, with no ill effects! And for a while, it was my daily driver. Maybe it is my older, and weaker wiring, but I've had no unusual heating of wires, or melting/cracking of the lenses or sockets. Just stating personal experience, I do notice that the reaction from the people driving behind me is more profound since I added these bulbs, and a third-brake light also.
