to follow up on this - I cleaned the burnt distributor cap and rotor and
went on a little trip - seems perfect now. O fcourse I am still going to
exchange it. But I guess the AFM is ok then - at least I will leave it in
peace for now.

As always, all the help from the list is amazong. Thank you all very much. I
have learnt so much today, and without frustration due to the help. And now
I know what the AFM does and how it comes apart---- will need that sooner or
later too.
