Hi Neil, The pilot bearing should be installed with the small inscriptions on the flat end facing you, i.e., toward the front of the bus. This is counterintuitive. It looks like the flat side should go toward the case and the rounded or beveled end toward the front of the bus, but it does not. I hope that one of the list gurus will chime in here if I'm wrong. And I remember someone on the list at one time warning NOT to use Moly grease on that bearing. I was told to use simple axle grease instead. It was explained to me that the Moly grease would contribute to shortening the life of that all-important little pilot bearing. And Eric Zeno (-------VW4X4) was right, be sure you install the little felt washer! If I'm wrong, I'm wrong with flame suit on. Bring it on ye lubberly swabs! Warren L. 88 Westy "Billy Bones" "Well, Captain Smollett, what have you to say? All well, I hope; all shipshape and seaworthy?' `Well, sir,' said the captain, `better speak plain, I believe, even at the risk of offence. I don't like this cruise; I don't like the men; and I don't like my officer. That's short and sweet.' `Perhaps, sir, you don't like the ship?' inquired the squire, very angry, as I could see. `I can't speak as to that, sir, not having seen her tried,' said the captain. `She seems a clever craft; more I can't say.' `Possibly, sir, you may not like your employer, either?' says the squire. But here Dr Livesey cut in. `Stay a bit,' said he, `stay a bit. No use of such questions as that but to produce ill-feeling. The captain has said too much or he has said too little, and I'm bound to say that I require an explanation of his words."
