This is an '87 Vanagon Wolfsburg with a '91 Subaru 2.2, 238+k on the speedometer, standard tranny. I had starter problems in the past, in June I had it rebuilt (230K). Today after work I turned the key and gave half a wirrr then went click. Nothing but 'click' since then, push started and drove it home. 12.9v at the battery, 12.5v at the starter (big wire), 12.4v at the wire that attaches to the solenoid when the key is turned. I cleaned the batt terminals (they were clean but I did it anyway, both ends), I cleaned the tranny to body ground, I cleaned all the wires that attach to the starter, I already have another ground from the lower starter bolt to the frame. With the good voltage at the solenoid (red/black stripe), at the starter and the battery I'm thinking there is something wrong with the starter. I'm going to go pull the starter now. Unless I can come up with something else I'll have to take the starter back to the place I had it rebuilt at in Tacoma (50 miles away). Am I missing something?
