The pump, of course, must be submerged in order to pump water. > How did the old system work, is it (in part) gravity fed? Nope, just a submersible pump. > Aka, do I need to somehow attach the hose to the bottom of whatever tank > I use and allow gravity to force the water into the pump before it will > start to take over on its own? Shouldn't be necessary. I have noticed (small sample size here) that the pump is more likely to fail if it has sat around dry for a long time. Mine would sieze up and I would have to pull it and work it a bit if it sat for several months in a dry tank. Now I leave some water in the tank and only drain & clean when I will soon be refilling it. Is your pump running... or just humming? Quite a different sound with the latter possibly indicating a seized impeller. Geo H -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
