As the importer of these fine heaters, I have tested all models and the HS2000 is dramatically quieter than the previous models. Propex has achieved this by reducing fan speed slightly and increasing heat output. The fan speed is regulated by an internal voltage regulator so that changes in input voltage don't effect fan speed. The HS2000 fan does run at a higher speed initally in the first 30 seconds or so of the warmup stage, then settles into the quiet mode. I've noticed the warmup stage is also shorter than previous models. Karl Mullendore propexusa.com
