Get a helper to pump pedal. When bleeding, do NOT press pedal all the way to floor. Halfway is fine. There is lots in archives on bleeding brakes. It is a small wrench yes. A 7or 8mm if I recall. You can do this by yourself. I started a thread not long ago that spawned some really useful info from helpful listers. Search in title with these: Brake problem or Eng. off/cold Cheers, Neil. --- gary goldey <clonestar7@YAHOO.COM> wrote: > I just replaced a very worn out brake master > cylinder on my 1984 Vanagon... > > First I bench bled the new cylinder, theni quickly > installed it... > > brakes are a little spongy...I guess i need to > bleed them....what size wrench am I going to need to > pick up?...I bet it is small......do I really have > to get the wife to help me pump and hold the brakes? > > > > > --------------------------------- > Check out the New Yahoo!
