I actually have better luck doing it as a one man job than with a helper. Basically, it involves using a small capped pint jar with a hole in the lid and a clear plastic hose that will fit tight on the bleeder screw. Start @ RR wheel, LR wheel, RF wheel, then LF wheel. Keep enough fluid in jar to cover the end of the hose and slowly pump pedal until no more bubbles show in jar. Be sure to keep adequate fluid in reservoir. Route 66 Rider! Get a helper to pump pedal. When bleeding, do NOT press pedal all the way to floor. Halfway is fine. There is lots in archives on bleeding brakes. It is a small wrench yes. A 7or 8mm if I recall. You can do this by yourself. I started a thread not long ago that spawned some really useful info from helpful listers. Search in title with these: Brake problem or Eng. off/cold Cheers, Neil. --- gary goldey <clonestar7@YAHOO.COM> wrote: > I just replaced a very worn out brake master cylinder on my 1984 > Vanagon... > > First I bench bled the new cylinder, theni quickly installed it... > > brakes are a little spongy...I guess i need to bleed them....what > size wrench am I going to need to pick up?...I bet it is small......do > I really have to get the wife to help me pump and hold the brakes? > > > > > --------------------------------- > Check out the New Yahoo!
